Notes

Desert broom (Baccharis sarothroides) is a shrub for hedges, xeriscapes, and low maintenance gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 7, or down to 0°F (-18°C). This plant likes full sun and dry, sandy soil. It stays evergreen and tolerates drought once established. Butterflies and birds visit it, and it can reach about 12 feet tall. Give it room to spread, since it can grow nearly 6 feet wide.

Pairs well with Eastern mojave buckwheat, Cenizo, and Matilija poppy.
