Notes

'Deutschland' florist's spiraea (Astilbe japonica 'Deutschland') is a clumping perennial for borders, cottage gardens, shade gardens, and cut flowers. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full sun to full shade and average to wet, loamy soil. Deer and rabbits rarely make it their first choice. Its foliage shows brown and copper tones with green, and butterflies and bees visit the blooms.

Pairs well with Fragrant Bouquet hosta, Jack in the pulpit, and Bottlebrush buckeye.
