Notes
Astilbe (Astilbe rosea) is a perennial for flower beds and mixed containers. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full sun to full shade and average moisture. Pale pink flowers rise above bright green leaves that turn burgundy and purple as the season goes on. Deer and rabbits usually look elsewhere for a meal. The leaves turn gold, orange, and russet in fall, and the plant needs even moisture in hot weather.
Pairs well with Jacob’s ladder, Carnaval De Nice tulip, and Horsetail.
