Notes

Mountain dogwood (Cornus nuttallii) is a tree for low maintenance gardens, with showy white bracts in spring. It is hardy to USDA zone 7, or down to 0°F (-18°C). This plant likes full sun to full shade and dry to moist, sandy or loamy soil. Deer tend to browse other plants first. Bees, butterflies, and birds visit it, and the leaves turn pinkish red in autumn. Give the trunk a buffer from lawnmowers, because wounds can let in fungus disease.

Pairs well with Thimbleberry, Ocean spray, Snake's head, and Mondo grass.
