Notes

'Dolly Varden' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Dolly Varden') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. It grows tall and strong, with Japanese type flowers in lilac-pink with violet shading and violet-pink petaloids. The color is unusual and much admired. Dr. Frederick G. Brethour bred it.

Pairs well with Spotted beebalm, Switchgrass, and Queen of Night tulip.
