Notes

'Dragon’s Head' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Dragon’s Head') is a perennial for borders, perennial beds, and cut flowers. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The mid season flowers have a Japanese form and are white with amaranth purple blotches. Yellow staminodes look like normal stamens, and the pink disk is easy to see. The medium size plant has a spreading habit, so give it room.

Pairs well with Rainforest Sunrise hosta, Little bluestem, and Queen of Night tulip.
