Notes

'Duguesclin' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Duguesclin') is a perennial for borders and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Miellez bred it in 1857. The loose, globular blooms open in mid-season in violet pink with crimson flecks and silver tips. The petals are noticeably serrate, and the plant stays compact.

Pairs well with Prairie dropseed, Monkshood, and Lily of the valley.
