Notes

'Durondeau' pear (Pyrus communis 'Durondeau') is a tree for food gardens and pollinator gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full sun and dry to average, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. White flowers open in early to late spring and attract butterflies, bees, and birds. The fruit ripens late and is grown for fresh eating. It is partially self-fertile, so a second pear nearby can help set more fruit.

Pairs well with Plum, Gladiator ornamental onion, and Switchgrass.
