Notes

'Seckel' pear (Pyrus communis 'Seckel') is a tree for food gardens, pollinator gardens, and specimen planting. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full sun and dry to average, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. White spring flowers are fragrant and attract butterflies, bees, and birds. The fruit is grown for fresh eating and culinary uses, and it is partially self-fertile. Dutch Jacobs bred it in the mid 1700s.

Pairs well with Apricot, Blanket flower, Woolly yarrow, and Chinkapin oak.
