Notes

'Moonglow' pear (Pyrus communis 'Moonglow') is a tree for borders, food gardens, and specimen planting. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full sun and dry to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. The U.S. Dept. of Agriculture bred it in the 1960s. It is grown for fresh eating and cooking, and you can pick the fruit early in the season. It is not self-fertile, so plant a second pear nearby for fruit.

Pairs well with Empire apple, Feather reed grass, Hyssop, and Red-hot poker.
