Notes
'Early Surprise' tulip (Tulipa 'Early Surprise') is a bulb for borders, cut flowers, and cottage gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full sun and average moisture. The purple-red flowers open from early to late spring on stems about 26 inches tall. The petals are flamed China rose outside and ivory white inside, with yellow anthers. I.V.T. bred it.
Pairs well with Bridal Crown daffodil, Lemon Chiffon peony, and Little bluestem.
