Notes

Eggleaf beardtongue (Penstemon ovatus) is a perennial for borders and low maintenance gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to average, sandy, loamy, or chalky soil. Blue, purple, or violet flowers open in early to late spring and again in early to late summer, and hummingbirds visit the blooms. It sits low on the menu for deer. Bees and birds also stop by.

Pairs well with Dwarf serviceberry, Red twig dogwood, and Cat mint.
