Notes
'Electric Blue' foothill beardtongue (Penstemon heterophyllus 'Electric Blue') is a perennial for borders, containers, and low maintenance gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 6, or down to -10°F (-23°C). This plant likes full sun and dry to moist soil of most types. Gentian blue flowers open in early to late spring and again in early to late summer, and hummingbirds and bees visit the blooms. It sits low on the menu for deer. The evergreen foliage stays attractive through the year.
Pairs well with Blazing star, Buffalo grass, California poppy, and Red spider lily.
