Notes

'Elegantissima' red-barked dogwood (Cornus alba 'Elegantissima') is a shrub for borders, hedges, specimen planting, and winter interest. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to wet, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Its arching stems grow at a rapid rate. Flowers open in early to late spring and draw butterflies, bees, and birds. Deer and rabbits usually look elsewhere for a meal.

Pairs well with Spicebush, Meadowsweet, Sedge, and Cheerfulness daffodil.
