Notes

'Prairie Fire' red-barked dogwood (Cornus alba 'Prairie Fire') is a shrub for borders, hedges, privacy screens, and winter interest. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to wet, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Creamy white flowers open in spring and early summer and draw butterflies, bees, and birds. It is not a favorite of deer or rabbits, though hungry ones will eat almost anything. The arching stems grow fast.

Pairs well with Spicebush, Switchgrass, Goldsturm black-eyed Susan, and Sedge.
