'Empire' canna (Canna 'Empire') is a bulb for containers, borders, and tropical-style gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 7, or down to 0°F (-18°C). This plant likes full sun and average moisture. Its green, paddle-shaped leaves give a subtropical look. Deep pink flowers appear from summer through fall. Plant it in well-drained soil and add a good mulch.
Pairs well with Society garlic, Purple top, and Mondo grass.
