Notes
'Ever Red' Darjeeling banana (Musa sikkimensis 'Ever Red') is a perennial for tropical-style borders and containers. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full sun. Striped green and maroon leaves give it a bold look, and it grows 10 to 13 feet tall. After a cold frost, cut it back to 24 to 36 inches and add a layer of mulch. New shoots called pups grow from the roots after the fruiting stem dies.
Pairs well with Feather reed grass, Butterfly bush, and Poppy.
