Notes

Poppy (Papaver bracteatum) is a perennial for borders, containers, and low maintenance gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full sun, average moisture, and most soil types. The red flowers have a dark center eye. They open in spring and again in summer. Plants reach 18 to 48 inches tall, so give them space in the back of a bed.

Pairs well with Delphinium, Lily, and Buffalo grass.

Native range

Caucasus, Iran, and Turkey.
