Notes

'Florizel' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Florizel') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The rose-red blooms open in early summer. Each flower has a center full of short, yellow petaloids. Mrs. Ruth H. Brant bred it, and Mikado is the seed parent.

Pairs well with Carnaval De Nice tulip, Cinnamon fern, and Black-eyed Susan.
