Notes

'Fondante d'Automne' pear (Pyrus communis 'Fondante d'Automne') is a tree for food gardens and pollinator gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full sun and dry to average, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Its spreading, flat-topped shape blooms in early to late spring, and butterflies, bees, and birds visit. The fruit is grown for fresh eating and ripens late in the season. It is not self-fertile, so plant a second pear nearby for pollination.

Pairs well with Plum, Cortland apple, and Creeping thyme.
