Notes

'Freude' rose (Rosa 'Freude') is a shrub for borders, cut flowers, and cottage gardens, and it also works as a specimen. It is hardy to USDA zone 6, or down to -10°F (-23°C). This plant likes full sun and loamy or clay soil. The upright plant has dark green leaves and fragrant orange-red blooms. Bees visit the flowers from late spring into early autumn. Reimer Kordes bred it in 1974.

Pairs well with Munstead lavender, Star Gazer lily, and Purple Coneflower coneflower.
