Notes
'Grune Kugel' western arborvitae (Thuja plicata 'Grune Kugel') is an evergreen for specimen planting, hedges, privacy screens, and winter interest. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to wet soil. The foliage is fragrant, and the columnar form attracts birds. Deer usually look elsewhere for a meal. Plant it in a row for a thick green wall.
Pairs well with River birch, Karl Foerster feather reed grass, and Autumn fern.
