Notes
'Virescens' western arborvitae (Thuja plicata 'Virescens') is a tree for specimen use, hedges, and privacy screens. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to wet soil. It grows in a columnar shape at a moderate pace, and its fragrant evergreen foliage attracts birds. Deer rarely make it their first choice. Plant it where its tall form has room to grow.
Pairs well with River birch, Spicebush, and Autumn fern.
