Notes

'Helen Dancer' peony (Paeonia 'Helen Dancer') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Dancer bred it from a seed sown in 1935, and the fragrant single flowers have cream-pink guard petals and crimson-red stamens. It sits low on the menu for deer and rabbits. Bees and butterflies visit the blooms.

Pairs well with White Swan coneflower, June hosta, Nodding onion, and Standing Ovation little bluestem.
