Notes

'Hollard's Gold' bear's breeches (Acanthus mollis 'Hollard's Gold') is a perennial for borders, foliage color, and bold accents. It is hardy to USDA zone 7, or down to 0°F (-18°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry soil. New leaves emerge chartreuse to gold, and the color is best in part sun. Upright flower spikes of white flowers with dusty purple bracts rise in summer. It stays evergreen in mild winters, especially under overhanging trees or large shrubs.

Pairs well with Shenandoah switchgrass, Elfin mother of thyme, and Millenium ornamental onion.
