Notes

'Hydra' peony (Paeonia 'Hydra') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and specimen plantings. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Joshua Scholten bred it, and it blooms early with semi-double, flame-like pink flowers edged in cream. It stands upright at about 33 inches, so it needs no support. It sits low on the menu for deer and rabbits.

Pairs well with June hosta, Stargazer lily, and Standing Ovation little bluestem.
