Notes

'Iron Purple' stock (Matthiola incana 'Iron Purple') is an annual for borders, cut flowers, containers, and cottage gardens. It shrugs off cool spells and light frost, though a hard freeze will damage it. This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist soil of most types. The fragrant blooms open in early to late spring and again in early to late summer. Butterflies, bees, and birds visit them. Deer usually look elsewhere for a meal.

Pairs well with Bells of Ireland, Balloon flower, and Eden rose.
