Notes

'Iron Rose' stock (Matthiola incana 'Iron Rose') is an annual for borders, cut flowers, and cottage gardens. It shrugs off cool spells and light frost, though a hard freeze will damage it. This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist soil of most types. Its fragrant red and rose blooms open in spring and again in summer. Deer tend to browse other plants first. Butterflies, bees, and birds visit the flowers.

Pairs well with Johnny jump up, Black Baccara rose, and Snake's head.
