Notes

'Issai' beautyberry (Callicarpa dichotoma 'Issai') is a shrub for borders, specimen planting, and hedges. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. It grows fast into a dense mound, and bees, butterflies, and birds visit it. It sits low on the menu for deer. Bluish purple flowers appear in the growing season.

Pairs well with False indigo, Munstead lavender, and Christmas fern.
