Notes
'Jewel' strawberry (Fragaria ananassa 'Jewel') is a fruit for food gardens, containers, and ground cover. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, loamy or clay soil. It spreads 12 to 24 inches with a creeping habit. Pink flowers open in spring and again in summer, and bees visit them. Deer tend to pass it by.
Pairs well with Lemon balm, Genovese basil, and Southern Comfort coral bells.
