Notes

'King George' tartarian aster (Aster amellus 'King George') is a perennial for borders and low maintenance beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full sun, average moisture, and sandy, loamy, or chalky soil. It blooms in early to late summer and again in early to late autumn, and butterflies, bees, and birds visit the flowers. It sits low on the menu for deer and rabbits. Once settled, it tolerates drought.

Pairs well with Feather reed grass, Viburnum, and Woodruff.
