Notes

'La Fontaine' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'La Fontaine') is a perennial for borders, perennial beds, and cut flowers. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The large double blooms are light rose-pink with a pale violet tone and a few crimson-edged center petals. They are fragrant and open in late spring to early summer. Strong stems hold the heavy flowers, and Victor Lemoine bred it.

Pairs well with Switchgrass, Stargazer lily, and Blue sage.
