Notes

'La Nuit' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'La Nuit') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The single blooms open carmine-pink in early to mid spring. Each flower has smooth carpels with bright red tips and a pink disk. Shaylor bred it in 1915, and the plant stays compact and medium in size.

Pairs well with Black-eyed Susan, Switchgrass, and Stargazer lily.
