Notes

Lace hedgehog cactus (Echinocereus reichenbachii) is a succulent for borders and containers, and it needs little care. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full sun and dry, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Pink spring flowers attract bees, so give it good drainage and keep other plants from smothering it. It sits low on the menu for deer and rabbits. Tidy white spines press flat against the stem.

Pairs well with Elfin mother of thyme, Star of persia, and Autumn moor grass.
