Notes

Largeflower tickseed (Coreopsis grandiflora) is a perennial for borders, meadows, and pollinator gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full sun to part shade and dry to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Bright yellow flowers draw butterflies and bees. Deer and rabbits rarely make it their first choice. It self-sows readily and can turn weedy, so pull extra seedlings.

Pairs well with Blue-eyed grass, Big bluestem, and Blue grama.

Native range

Central and eastern North America.
