Notes

'Legion of Honor' peony (Paeonia 'Legion of Honor') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and cottage gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Professor Arthur Percy Saunders bred it in 1941. The almost single, flat flowers are cherry scarlet and fragrant, and they sit above light green foliage. It sits low on the menu for deer and rabbits.

Pairs well with Halcyon hosta, Culver’s root, and Blue grama.
