Notes

'Little Red Fox' little bluestem (Schizachyrium scoparium 'Little Red Fox') is a grass for borders, pollinator gardens, meadows, and rain gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full sun and dry to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. It forms a tidy clump up to 30 inches tall. Purple-brown flowers age to silvery white, and butterflies, bees, and birds visit it. It sits low on the menu for deer.

Pairs well with Prairie Sun rudbeckia, Spotted joe-pye weed, and New Jersey tea.
