Notes

Spotted joe-pye weed (Eutrochium maculatum) is a perennial for borders, pollinator gardens, meadows, and rain gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full sun to part shade and average to wet soil of most types. Tall purple-spotted stems carry flat clusters of fragrant purple-pink flowers that draw butterflies, bees, and birds. Deer and rabbits tend to pass it by. Give it room to reach its full height.

Pairs well with Culver’s root, Obedient plant, and Royal fern.
