Notes
Long spurred violet (Viola rostrata) is a perennial for borders and ground cover, and it needs little care. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes part sun to full shade and average to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. It grows 4 to 10 inches tall and bears lilac-purple flowers in spring and again in summer. The spur on each blossom is long and narrow.
Pairs well with Canada mayflower, White trillium, and Nightcaps.
