'Lucifer' tulip (Tulipa 'Lucifer') is a bulb for borders, cut flowers, and cottage gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full sun and average moisture. It blooms in early to late spring. Plant the bulbs in fall in groups for the best show, and cut a few stems for a vase.
Pairs well with Cat's Pajamas nepeta, Dr. Alexander Fleming peony, and Little bluestem.
