Notes

'Luna Red' rose mallow (Hibiscus moscheutos 'Luna Red') is a perennial for borders, pollinator gardens, rain gardens, and containers. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to wet, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Deep burgundy red flowers open in summer and draw butterflies, hummingbirds, and bees. Deer rarely make it their first choice. It grows fast to about 36 inches tall with an erect habit.

Pairs well with Culver’s root, Little bluestem, False indigo, and Big bluestem.
