Notes

Madonna lily (Lilium candidum) is a bulb for borders, containers, and low maintenance gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 6, or down to -10°F (-23°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist soil of most types. Thick, waxy, pure white petals open in summer and give off a sweet fragrance. Basal leaves grow in winter and go dormant in summer when the flower stem blooms. Butterflies, hummingbirds, and bees visit the flowers.

Pairs well with Armenian cranesbill, Lavender, and Fountain grass.
