Notes
'Mai Tai' avens (Geum quellyon 'Mai Tai') is a perennial for borders, cottage gardens, rock gardens, and containers. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, sandy, loamy, or chalky soil. Its vermilion-red blooms fade to peach and pink in spring and again in summer, and butterflies, hummingbirds, and bees visit them. Deer and rabbits usually look elsewhere for a meal. The mounding plant stays 15 to 18 inches tall.
Pairs well with Karl Foerster feather reed grass, Golden Tiara hosta, and Purple Coneflower coneflower.
