Notes

'Man of War' peony (Paeonia 'Man of War') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and specimen planting. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Saunders bred it, and its single crimson flowers are fragrant and reach up to nine and one-half inches wide. Deer and rabbits rarely make it their first choice. The thick, rigid stems stand tall, and the blooms attract butterflies and bees.

Pairs well with Dense blazing star, Little bluestem, and Nodding onion.
