Notes

'Manchurian Promise' peony (Paeonia 'Manchurian Promise') is a shrub for borders, cottage gardens, and specimen plantings. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, loamy soil. Large, ruffled, semi-double flowers open in early to late spring in coral, salmon, and peach with dark maroon flares. Deer and rabbits tend to browse other plants first. Sturdy stems hold the heavy blooms well, and butterflies visit them.

Pairs well with Paris coral bells, Jacob’s ladder, and Big bluestem.
