Notes

'Mercury' camellia (Camellia japonica 'Mercury') is a shrub for borders, woodland gardens, and pollinator plantings. It is hardy to USDA zone 7, or down to 0°F (-18°C). This plant likes part sun and average to wet soil. It grows slowly into a columnar evergreen that tolerates salt. It sits low on the menu for deer. Bees and birds visit the blooms, which open in winter and spring.

Pairs well with Oakleaf hydrangea, Japanese forest grass, and American hornbeam.
