Notes

'Merleau' scarlet sage (Salvia ×coccinea 'Merleau') is a perennial for borders, pollinator gardens, rock gardens, and accents. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to average, sandy soil. Deer and rabbits tend to browse other plants first. Purplish-blue flowers appear in late spring, summer, and autumn. Butterflies, hummingbirds, and bees visit the blooms.

Pairs well with Blue fescue, Goldenrod, and Karl Foerster feather reed grass.
