Notes

'Merlot' rose (Rosa 'Merlot') is a shrub for borders, containers, cottage gardens, and cut flowers. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full sun and loamy or clay soil. The dark red petals have a white reverse, and the blooms look like hybrid tea flowers. It stays small at about 2 feet tall and keeps blooming from late spring to early autumn. Frank A. Benardella bred it in 2001.

Pairs well with Green Spice coral bells, Standing Ovation little bluestem, and Gladiator ornamental onion.
