Notes

'Morton' black chokeberry (Aronia melanocarpa 'Morton') is a shrub for borders, hedges, and rain gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to wet, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. White flowers open in early to late spring and draw butterflies, bees, and birds. The leaves turn a new color in fall, and the plant tolerates drought.

Pairs well with Northern bayberry, Aromatic aster, Royal fern, and Black gum.
