Notes

'Low Scape Mound' black chokeberry (Aronia melanocarpa 'Low Scape Mound') is a shrub for borders, hedges, rain gardens, and foundation plantings. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to wet, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. It stays low, at 12 to 24 inches tall and 18 to 24 inches wide. White flowers open in spring and early summer and draw butterflies, bees, and birds. The green leaves turn red-purple in fall.

Pairs well with Northern bayberry, Indian grass, and Gooseneck loosestrife.
